Dr. Hennessy has been with the Office of Campus Sustainability since it began in August 2008. He is originally from Yellow Springs, Ohio but has resided in Bowling Green for many years. He obtained his B.S. from Muskingum University, his J.D. from The Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University, and his Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Bowling Green State University. As the current Sustainability Manager here at BGSU he manages and coordinates all university sustainability efforts, programs, activities, and initiatives to achieve the goals of reduction of emissions, reduction of waste, and education/outreach. Dr. Hennessy enjoys working with students in developing an understanding and enthusiasm for the value of sustainability and how it connects to their day-to-day activities.
Zach is a 1st year master's student from Pinckney, Michigan (About 25 minutes north of Ann Arbor). Zach is in the Geospatial Science Master’s program here at BGSU. His interests in sustainability are multifaceted; his initial passion for sustainability was for recycling and diverting things from the landfill. Now, in addition to zero-waste initiatives, his interests include sustainable transportation, enhancing greenspaces, and holistic environmental education. Some of Zach’s favorite pastimes include outdoor activities such as running and biking, trying out new cafés, drinking Kombucha and watching motorsports, particularly NASCAR. Some of Zach’s other campus involvements include working with the Environmental Action Group (EAG) and attending St. Thomas More Student Parish events. His faith is important to him, and he is happy to be plugged in and feel at home with the Catholic Falcons. If Zach had to choose between BGSU orange or brown, he would pick orange!
Joe is a Senior from Maineville, Ohio, studying Environmental Policy and Analysis. In his spare time he enjoys playing the guitar. If he had to choose between BGSU brown or orange, he would pick orange!
Emily is a Senior from Minster, Ohio, studying Visual Communication Technology with a specialization in print and photography. One of her interests in sustainability is waste reduction. In her spare time, Emily enjoys being outside and camping; she also loves reading Colleen Hoover books. One of Emily’s favorite memories in Bowling Green was building snowmen during the huge snowstorm of the spring 2022 semester. If Emily had to choose between BGSU orange or brown, she would pick orange!
Summer is a Senior from Cleveland, Ohio, studying Visual Communication Technology with a specialization in Print and Photography. Summer’s interests in sustainability include waste reduction, thrifting, and minimalism. In her spare time, she indulges in her passion for film photography, collecting vintage goods and taking nature walks. Summer is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and uses her influence to bring awareness about environmental health disparities in her community.
Maria is a third-year student studying Environmental Policy and Analysis with a specialization in Education and Interpretation, minoring in Entrepreneurship. Maria is deeply passionate about living and leading a healthy lifestyle. In her spare time, she enjoys practicing and facilitating meditation and reiki at BGSU, as well as preparing, and eating meals mindfully. Maria loves biking and walking to her destinations and being outdoors as much as possible. In the future, she aspires to travel the world spreading Environmental Education and awareness to all. Maria is extremely excited to be able to learn and challenge herself with her new trade becoming the first female bike mechanic at BGSU.
