Scholarships

Students applying for the Incoming Freshman Talent Award must be high school seniors planning to attend the BGSU School of Art as full-time students (at least 12 credit hours per semester) during the 2026-27 academic year. Applicants must submit a portfolio of 10 artworks through SlideRoom for consideration for this non-renewable scholarship. The School of Art offers 8 to 10 scholarships each year, ranging from $1,000 to $2,000, and disbursed as tuition scholarship for the first year of study in the School of Art.

Please note: If you are already receiving a full tuition scholarship, you are not eligible to receive this scholarship.

To be considered for the Incoming Freshman Talent Award, you must submit 10 works of original art created within the last 18 months. Artworks can be in any medium (2D, 3D, video, installation, animation, etc.) regardless of intended major. Your portfolio can include a variety of media or can include only one medium.

If any work submitted is a collaborative product, please list all artists involved in its creation, as well as your role in the collaboration.

Please do not include other people's work, reproductions of famous or copyrighted works, reproductions of cartoon/animated characters, or reproductions of celebrities.

Strong Outstanding Senior Award, Marilyn Singleton/Medici Circle Leadership Award, Mark Borsz Memorial Scholarship. These awards and scholarships include leadership and artistic achievement criteria, are nominated and voted on by School of Art faculty, and will be announced at the BFA Exhibition.

In addition, students are eligible for the Candace “Candy” Ducat Book Scholarship, Dr. Karen Kakas Memorial Scholarship in Art Education, Gloria Evangelista Scholarship, James W. Strong Outstanding Undergraduate Award, Ronald Jacomini Scholarship, Todd Childers, I Love Graphic Design Award. These awards and scholarships include leadership and artistic achievement criteria, are nominated and voted on by School of Art faculty, and will be announced at the Undergraduate Exhibition.

For each exhibition, students may sell artwork. Purchase awards are sponsored acquisitions of student artworks. All students are eligible, provided their artwork is available for sale in the related exhibition.
