Gabriel A. Cruz

Gabriel’s research agenda focuses on the use of visual and narrative rhetoric to interrogate manifestations of ideology within offline and digital spaces, primarily within fiction. In particular the research is concerned with the representation of identities as they relate to societal phenomena and political issues. Toward that end dissertation focuses on representations of race, class, and gender as well as social issues within comic books.  As a secondary area of emphasis, he is interested in investigating the digital discourse surrounding the consumption of popular media and the ways in which internet users utilize discursive practices that incorporate the aforementioned ideologies.
