Lambda Pi Eta

The newly founded chapter of Lambda Pi Eta (λπη), is the official honor society of the National Communication Association (NCA).
Lambda Pi Eta is an organization of our best and brightest students in the Communication major. We induct students who have a grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 or higher in the major and a cumulative 3.0 GPA. For students who will soon be job seeking or applying to graduate school, Lambda Pi Eta is a great way to set yourself apart from others: a resume with Lambda Pi Eta on it shows this distinction.
As a member of Lambda Pi Eta, your responsibilities would be minimal in terms of time commitment, but would contribute significantly to the life of BGSU's Communication program. For example, as a member you might:
- attend a lecture here on campus and have lunch with an invited scholar in the field of Communication;
- help grow the Communication major by assisting faculty at a student recruiting event such as Preview Day at BGSU;
- submit one of your Communication class research papers to the NCA Annual Convention.
These are just a few of the many ways our student members can participate in and benefit from outstanding scholastic endeavors in Communication.
If you are interested in joining Lambda Pi Eta, please send a brief e-mail with your intent to join to the Co-Advisors of BGSU's Lambda Pi Eta chapter, Dr. Sandra Faulkner at: sandraf@bgsu.edu and Dr. John Dowd jpdowd@bgsu.edu.
Sophomores are eligible to be 'members-at-large' until they reach the minimum number of credits in the major. Eligible Juniors and Seniors who have reached the minimum number of credits and who meet the GPA criteria are welcome to join as full members.
Eligibility: The requirements for full membership are 3.0 cumulative GPA with 60 semester credit hours completed plus at least a 3.25 GPA for communication courses with 12 semester credit hours completed.
Juniors/seniors will also need to submit an initiation fee of $30 before the official induction at the annual Spring Awards Ceremony, to be held in April of each year. This one-time fee, which must be received by the Communication program by the first week in April, provides a lifetime membership in Lambda Pi Eta. Once the fee is submitted, you will be recognized at the Awards Ceremony and, by semester's end, receive a personalized certificate and a Lambda Pi Eta lapel pin. For graduating seniors, an honor cord may also be purchased to complete your graduation cap and gown. Please make out checks to BGSU.
