Raymond Snipes (1934 - 1987)

Raymond F. Snipes, 49, of 15223 Mitchell Road, Bowling Green died Monday in Flower, Hospital, Sylvania.

He bad been a professor of mathematics at Bowling Green State University for the past 16 years and previously taught chemistry for four years at Trinity College, Hartford Conn.

Snipes earned a B.S. in chemistry from the University of North Carolina In 1956, a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from Yale University in 1963, and a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Virginia in 1971.

He was born April 1, 1934 in Reidsville, N.C. to Mr. and Mrs. Raymond E. Snipes (Winona Hutcheson). Snipes married Loretta Sawyer in 1959, and she survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Aaron and Matthew, both of Bowling Green; Josiah, Weston; and Timothy, Columbus; his mother, of Reidsville; and two grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held in Reidsville.

There will be no visitation. Arrangements are being handled by the Dunn Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
