Roll Along and Fight for B-G-S-U!
Those words to Ay Ziggy Zoomba are on display daily in each one of our student-athletes. There is a determination, a fight, a grit about BGSU student-athletes that make me so proud to be the Director of Athletics.
Examples of this from the past fall:
- Women’s Soccer — MAC regular season and conference tournament champions, NCAA tournament team
- Volleyball — MAC regular season champion and National Volleyball Invitational Championship participant
- Football — Won two out of the last three games while dealing with the leadership transition
- Men’s Cross Country — Finished 2nd in the MAC Championships, which is its highest finish since 1995
- Senior Rachel Walny led our Women’s Cross Country team and earned All-Region for the fourth consecutive year
While competition success is what we cheer for at games and events, it is the success in the classroom that continues to make me most proud. The NCAA released the graduation success rate of athletics programs and we again rank in the Top 20 in the country with a 91 percent graduation success rate. Our BGSU student-athletes are to be commended for their success on and off the field of competition.
I look forward to winter sports! Be sure to come back to campus to cheer on our teams. I would love for you to see first-hand the great student-athletes representing BGSU. They will make you proud!
Go Falcons, Ay Ziggy!
Nearly 75 years ago, Gilbert Fox, an original SICSIC member, World War II veteran and musicologist wrote "Ay Ziggy Zoomba" and introduced the tune to Bowling Green. In 2013, the BGSU Undergraduate Student Government passed a resolution formally supporting the promotion of “Ay Ziggy Zoomba” to the status of an official fight song of the University.

Scot Loeffler Named Falcon Football Head Coach
Scot Loeffler has been named the 20th head coach of the Bowling Green football program. Loeffler’s coaching career includes stops at Michigan, Central Michigan, Florida, Temple, Auburn, Virginia Tech and Boston College. He also spent a year coaching quarterbacks for the Detroit Lions.
