Cuneen

BOWLING GREEN, O. —The award-winning chair of Bowling Green State University’s Division of Sport Management, Recreation and Tourism is adding another honor to her growing list.

Dr. Jacquelyn Cuneen will receive the Sport Management Outstanding Achievement Award from the National Association for Sport and Physical Education today (March 19) in Indianapolis.

The award is given to a professional who has made outstanding contributions and provided leadership in the field of sport management for at least 10 years. “I know several of the people who’ve received this recognition in the past and I’m proud to be linked to them,” said Cuneen. “I’m thankful that BGSU sport management encouraged me to contribute to my profession. My mentors showed me the importance of contributing through their own professional service. Cuneen has been a faculty member in the School of Human Movement, Sport and Leisure Studies since 1989, teaching primarily in sport and event promotions and sport-management field experiences. She co-authored “Sport and Management Field Experiences,” the first textbook written for sport-management experiential education, and has published more than 40 scholarly and professional articles. She is also the only person to have received the North American Society for Sport Management’s three highest recognitions: the Dr. Earle F. Zeigler Lecture Award in 2003, the Dr. Garth Paton Distinguished Service Award in 2006 and the Distinguished Sport Management Educator Award in 2008.
