Programs

The Slater Family Ice Arena offers a variety of programming opportunities for a wide range of ages and skill levels!
  • If you are comfortable skating on your own, you can come at your leisure to any of our scheduled Public or Cheap Skates.
  • If you are looking for beginning instruction, check out our Learn to Skate program for all ages.
  • For those who already know how to skate and are looking to further develop their skills, try out some of our figure skating or hockey programs for both youth and adult skaters.
  • All programming requires the appropriate level of current season membership to participate.  Visit the Membership page to find out what your skater needs.

Skill Progression

New skaters begin in the Learn to Skate Tot or Beginner levels at ages three through adult. Learn to Skate offers a good foundation for recreational skating, figure skating or hockey.  Additional opportunities and classes are available depending on the skater's interest.  Skating twice a week or more is recommended for improved skill development.

Basic 3 - 6 skaters looking to progress at a faster pace should try the Basic Booster class!  A 50-minute class on the Main Ice designed to cover current skills, review skills, and introduce new skills through drills and increased repetition.

Visit the the Figure Skating page for additional class and performance opportunities for youth and adult skaters. Join the Bowling Green Skate Club for additional figure skating activities.

Visit the Hockey page for additional hockey classes and leagues for both youth and adults.  If your skater is ready to join a hockey team, join the Bowling Green Youth Hockey Association.
