Bed Delofting

Before move-in, all beds are set to the standard loft height because it’s most popular among students.* The standard setting is tall enough to fit a desk, chair and tall dresser, but not set to the very top setting.

All beds are the same size and come equipped with a loft kit at BGSU. Our mattresses are 36"x80"x7", which is considered an extra-long twin, and our standard loft height is 72” tall (floor to the top of the bed) with 57” of clearance under the bed.

We know the standard loft height is not a perfect fit for everyone, so we are now offering an online process you can use to submit a request prior to move-in to have your bed lowered by our staff.

*ADA rooms and Falcon Heights single bedrooms will be set to the no loft bed height.

Standard Bed Loft

  • 72" Floor to Top of Frame / 57" Under Bed
  • Beds are automatically set to this height
  • Tall enough to fit a desk, chair and tall dresser, but not the maximum height

On-Campus Mattresses

  • 36" x 80" x 7"
  • All beds are the same dimentions
  • Look for extra-long twin sheets for fit the beds

How to Request A Bed Deloft

It's important you understand all of the details about the request process.

Before Aug. 1

If you submit your request by noon EST on Aug. 1, your bed height will be adjusted prior to your move-in date.

  • You will only be able to select from the bed height options available in your residence hall.
  • If you do not see a bed height option when completing the request form that height is NOT available in your building.

IMPORTANT: You will not be able to select which bed will be adjusted. You are assigned to a room but you and your roommate are not assigned to a specific bed and no one has claims on a specific bed. Because of this, our staff will select the bed that will be lowered or raised.

During move-in

When you arrive to your room during move-in you will will have information about bed de-lofting for your hall.

After move-in

If you would like your bed de-lofted after you have moved in, you will need to fill out a maintenance request form and your bed will be adjusted by our Campus Ops team.
