New Student Room Selection Availability

As of 5:26 assignment pending is the only housing option for the remining students needing to select rooms.

Please note these updates are not exact, as the housing portal is a live system. Students can select rooms once the system opens on their date and time until 9 a.m., Friday, May 15.

Selection Reminders

Selection Times

  • This is the randomly assigned date and time that room selection opens for you.
  • Your selection time is in Eastern Time (ET).
  • Your selection time is in military time. 
  • Your room selection time stays open until 9 a.m. ET on Friday, May 15

Room Selection

  • You will log in to your Housing Portal to take part in room selection. 
  • Room selection is first-come, first-served.
  • 73% of students live in Conklin, McDonald, Kreischer, Kohl and Offenhauer.
  • When you log in to select, you’ll see all available halls and rooms.
  • Don’t see a building? That means it is already full.

Selecting Assignment Pending

  • Guarantees you will receive a room assignment by Aug. 7, at the latest. 
  • Gives you access to the room change process. 
  • Lets your schedule your required move-in time.

Selection FAQs

What halls will fill first or last during selection?
Our office gets this question every year. Based on past years, Centennial Hall typically fills up the fastest because of its limited in-room bathroom layout. That being said, every class is different, and since BGSU lets you select your own room, availability varies each year based on student preferences.

What if I don’t see a building/room to select?
Because room selection is a live system, you may log in to select a room and only see "Assignment Pending." It is important to know that if you select assignment pending, you will receive a final room assignment on or before Aug. 7.

What if I don’t select “Assignment Pending”?
If you do not select the assignment pending option, our office will not know you want to be assigned a room over the summer, and you will not be able to place yourself on a building waitlist or submit a roommate request. 

Founders Hall

This building is only available to new students who are approved to live in the Honors Learning Community (HLC). Students already accepted into the Honors Learning Community will be able to select a room in Founders Hall as long as space is available.

If you are on the HLC waitlist, you must select a bed in a different building and if an opening becomes available, your room assignment will be adjusted at that time.
