Frequently Asked Questions

You can use the food pantry once a week.

Any BGSU student, faculty or staff member can pick up a bag of groceries. Please take what you need and can use.

Yes! We have an open access food shelf at Firelands for any student, staff or faculty member on the first floor of George Mylander Hall, directly across from GMH 105.

We always have pre-packed bags of food available at the Jerome Library front desk. Just go to the library with your BGSU ID and ask for a bag from the Falcon Food Pantry. Vegetarian bags are also available.

We do not require anything other than your BGSU ID card.

Our food comes from a variety of sources including campus food drives, donations, Seagate Food Bank and Toledo Northwest Ohio Food Bank (Feeding America).

We recognize that sometimes people need some extra help - maybe it’s an unexpected expense, or changing jobs, or a health issue. Our goal is to help bring out the best in all Falcons who may be skipping meals, or eating less, or struggling to meet their food needs in some way.

We are partnering with Brown Bag Food Project to give them items that we cannot use in an effort to reduce food waste.

  • Non-perishable food items (e.g. pasta, canned vegetables, soup, etc.)
  • Diapers
  • Hygiene items (e.g. shampoo, body wash toothpaste, pads, tampons, etc.)
  • Allergy-friendly items (e.g. gluten-free)
  • International items (e.g. rice, sauces, spices, etc.)

Our shelves are refreshed daily. Our stock varies depending on what we are able to source each week.

Faculty are one of our greatest resources for promoting the Falcon Food Pantry! If possible, please include the following on your syllabus and/or on Canvas as an announcement:

The Falcon Food Pantry is here to help any student, staff or faculty going through tough times. The Pantry is open during the academic year when classes are in session Monday/Thursday 12pm-3pm and Wednesday 2:30-5:30pm at Central Hall 109. No proof of need is required, just a BGSU ID. Falcons can stop in once a week to “shop” for a bag of groceries: including food, diapers and hygiene items.
