Facilitate a CFE Session or Series

Ready to share your expertise, spark ideas, and connect with colleagues across campus? The Center for Faculty Excellence is accepting proposals for sessions and session series for the 2025–2026 academic year! We’re looking for facilitators and campus partners who want to engage the BGSU Teaching Community in inquiry, reflective practice, and innovative, inclusive approaches to teaching and learning.

By contributing a session, you’re helping build a supportive, collegial culture that promotes equitable student success—for the public good.

Sessions should:

  • Have a clear topic that is reflected in the title of the session and supports the mission and vision of the Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE).
  • Have clear learning outcomes.
  • Provide relevant examples of concepts, skills, and practices.
  • Provide opportunities for participant collaboration, interaction, and/or engagement.
  • Be relevant to a wide spectrum of the BGSU teaching community (when possible), including full-time faculty, adjunct faculty, graduate students, and staff (classified and administrative).
  • Be achievable in your proposed session duration (usually 30-60 minutes depending on facilitator preference). 

Session series should:

  • Include at least three sessions.
  • Have a clear topic or theme that is reflected in the title of the series and supports the mission and vision of the Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE). 
  • Be relevant to a wide spectrum of the BGSU teaching community (when possible), including full-time faculty, adjunct faculty, graduate students, and staff (classified and administrative). 

Individual Session Proposal Instructions

If you are proposing a session or workshop that has not been offered by the CFE before, follow these steps:

  1. Download and complete the CFE Individual Session Proposal Template, outlining your proposed CFE session. Please do not edit the template directly in Sharepoint. 
  2. Refer to the CFE Session Facilitator Guide for information on each of the required sections for the individual sessions. 
  3. Upload the completed proposal template as a Microsoft Word document to the 2025-2026 CFE Individual Session Proposal Form by the appropriate deadline.

If you are proposing a single session or workshop that has been offered by the CFE before and do not have any significant changes to make to your session and/or session description, follow these steps:

  1. Complete the 2025-2026 CFE Individual Session Proposal Form by the appropriate deadline and indicate on the form that this is a recurring session. You do not need to submit a proposal template.

Session Series Proposal Instructions

If you are proposing a session or workshop series  (i.e., at least 3 different sessions on the same topic, theme, or resource) that has not been offered by the CFE before, follow these steps:

  1. Download and complete the CFE Session Series Proposal Template, outlining your proposed CFE session series, including an explanation of the series as well as each session in the series. Please do not edit this template directly in Sharepoint. CFE series consists of at least three (3) workshops or sessions that explore a topic, theme, or resource.
  2. Refer to the CFE Session Facilitator Guide for information on each of the required sections for the individual sessions. 
  3. Upload the completed proposal template as a Microsoft Word document to the 2025-2026 CFE Session Series Proposal Form by the appropriate deadline. 

If you are proposing a session series that has been offered by the CFE before and do not have any significant changes to make to your series and/or sessions, follow these steps:

  1. Complete 2025-2026 CFE Session Series Proposal Form by the appropriate deadline and indicate on the form that this is a recurring series and add each of the  proposed sessions in the series to the form. You do not need to submit a proposal template.

Session Series Proposal Deadlines

If you are proposing a series, we ask that you submit the session proposals for all sessions in the series by the proposal submission deadline. Please note: Each session series may only be offered once per academic year.

Session & Series Review Process

Proposals will be reviewed and evaluated by the CFE Team based on the following criteria:

  • The proposed session/series has a clear topic that supports the mission and vision of the Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE). 
  • The proposed session/series has clear learning outcomes.
  • The proposed session/series will provide relevant examples of concepts, skills, and practices.
  • The proposed session/series will provide opportunities for participant collaboration, interaction, and/or engagement.
  • The session/series is relevant to members of the BGSU teaching community (when possible), including full-time faculty, adjunct faculty, graduate students, and staff (classified and administrative).
  • The proposed session/series has a clear plan which can be accomplished within the requested time frame. 

After reviewing your proposal, the CFE team will reach out to you about the next steps for your proposed session or series.

Frequently Asked Questions

All members of the BGSU teaching community, including full-time faculty (TTF and QRF), adjunct instructors, staff (administrative and classified) and graduate students, are welcomed and encouraged to submit a session or series proposal. While undergraduate students may not submit session or seires proposals, the CFE encourages session facilitators to collaborate with undergraduate students on session development and facilitation when appropriate.

Yes! The CFE encourages facilitators to collaborate with colleagues on their session and series proposals. Interdisciplinary collaboration is especially encouraged. 

If submitting a proposal with a co-facilitator or co-facilitators, please choose one person to submit the completed proposal to the proposal form. The submitter should indicate their name, email address, and BGSU role on the form. All facilitators' names and titles should be included on the completed proposal template. 

If proposing an individual session, you may submit one proposal for that session per semester. If proposing a session series, you may submit one proposal for that series per academic year.

If proposing multiple different sessions or series, you may submit one proposal for each session or series being proposed. However, due to limited staffing and resources, we may limit the number of accepted proposals per person/department or per semester/academic year.

Yes! CFE sessions may be facilitated virtually via Zoom or in-person. In-person sessions are dependent on space availability.

The CFE will manage all logistics related to your session scheduling and planning, including managing registrations and tracking attendance, marketing sessions, communicating with registrants, etc. The CFE appreciates your support in telling your colleagues and other members of your community about your upcoming session. Word of mouth is one of our most effective marketing tools!

If facilitating an virtual session, you will be assigned as co-host of a Zoom session. When possible, the CFE will assign a team member help you moderate and support your Zoom session.

If facilitating an in-person session, you will be provided with a classroom space equipped with a computer (Windows PC), projector(s), whiteboards, and lavalier microphones. The CFE will provide whiteboard markers, writing utensils, and sticky notes to all facilitators. When possible, the CFE will assign a team member help you support you and your session participants.
