Culture Track Option
Courses Approved for Group 2 – Language/Culture
Bachelor of Arts in Communication Degree
I. Objective
The BAC culture track's objective is to develop an appreciation (as opposed to a skill) for an ethnic or cultural group in the United States (Section One) or an international/national group (Section Two).
A. Eligibility
The culture option is available to students who have completed at least two years of the same foreign language in high school.
B. Requirements
- The culture option on an individual student’s program shall be four courses from Section One or four courses from the same international/national group in Section Two.
- No more than two of the four courses may be at the 1000-level.
- A student may not mix language courses and culture track courses to achieve his/her four courses in the culture track option.
- Any course in the BAC official culture track option list that follows is acceptable for inclusion on a BAC program, but all must be from the same group.
- If a student wishes to include a course under the culture track option that does not appear on this official list, he/she may propose the course through his/her adviser to the department’s Undergraduate Coordinator.
II. Verification of High School Foreign Language
Students must provide their advisers with verification of foreign language courses successfully completed in high school.
