Summer Party 2014

An Evening with Dr. Jaak Panksepp

Dr. Panksepp with students Vincent Coppola, Josh Ricker, Sanna Yuan, Brittany Halversdt and Justin McGraw. Casey Cromwell hosted the event and it was a good opportunity to talk to Dr. Panksepp and learn about affective neuroscience.

The event included discussions of affective neuroscience and the implications for studying emotion in behavioral neuroscience.

Undergraduate researchers (Luke Zona) as well as graduate students and neuroscience faculty (Vern Bingman and Sherona Garrett-Ruffin) participated.

After food and conversation, competitive badminton was played. Here Vincent Coppola and Vipa Phuntumart work together on the grass court.

Dr. Bingman rapidly covers the net as his partner Sanna Yuan backs him up.

We have had a great crew of scientists and researchers that like to work hard and sometimes play hard too. And we enjoy a good bowl of Marge Meserve's homemade soup!

SUMMER 2012: Lab Meeting/Cookout Badminton Tourney

The final lab meeting for summer 2012 was outdoors and began with Matt Ozcypok explaining research on fixed action patterns in mice.

SOUPFEST 2011 & The Surprise Guest

Soupfest 2011 was held on December 8th. A special guest surprised the guests with her presence--it was Dr. Mazey, the new president of Bowling Green State University. Dr. Mazey joined in the festivities and sang praises about the wonderful soup Marge Merserve cooks up for the group. The research team was able to impress the president of BGSU with their work on neurotoxicology and behavior. Discussions included the importance of research at BGSU with a strong emphasis on state of the art facilities and a high level of motivation to attract external funding. Dr. Mazey's attendance made Soupfest 2011 a very special event. Thanks for coming President Mazey!
