Geology MS Admissions
The requirements for admission to our graduate program are stated in the Graduate Catalog and on the University’s Graduate Admissions website. In general, you must successfully complete an undergraduate degree in Geology or a related area. Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA to be considered for Graduate Assistantships. Before applying, prospective students are encouraged to contact the Graduate Coordinator, Kefa Otiso, to learn more about the program, and email potential faculty advisors to discuss graduate research options.

Letters will be collected through the Graduate Admissions system (referees will receive a system generated email).
Your statement of purpose will be uploaded to the Graduate Admissions system. Your statement should explain your motivation for pursuing graduate studies at BGSU, as well as how you anticipate this experience will help you achieve your educational and career goals. You are also welcome to list additional information such as honors, awards, previous employment, etc., either in the same document or in a separate résumé.
Applicants from countries with primary languages of instruction other than English must take the TOEFL, MELAB, or IELTS exam in addition to the requirements listed above. The recommended minimum scores for graduate admission are: 80 for TOEFL (IBT), 77 for MELAB and 7.0 for IELTS. International students who meet all minimum standards are eligible for consideration for Graduate Assistantships. International applicants are also required to submit additional documents.
