INBOUND SHIPPING SAVINGS PROGRAM
BGSU Partners with Vantage Point Logistics to Drive Down Inbound Freight Costs
To reduce the costs of inbound freight on BGSU purchases, BGSU Purchasing is utilizing the shipping savings program of Vantage Point Logistics (VPL). Vantage Point will serve as a third party intermediary between the University, FedEx, and our suppliers. There is no operational change on how BGSU will place orders or interact with our suppliers.
How will Shipping Charges be Tracked?
Instead of suppliers charging BGSU their own shipping rates, suppliers will use dedicated FedEx account number for shipments. FedEx will bill Vantage Point directly for these shipping charges, and Vantage Point will in turn bill BGSU for FedEx shipping charges (at more favorable and contracted rates than supplier rates). Vantage Point will prepare electronic files for each transaction which feed directly into Falcon’s Purch and link the purchase order to the FedEx shipping document, such that the actual shipping charge is tied to each individual purchase.
How will this look Differently to the Departments?
Departments will see the product charge from the supplier and the inbound freight charges from Vantage Point separately, with the Vantage Point charge appearing under a separate PeopleSoft account code.
