Shea McGrew

Shea McGrew is vice president for University Advancement and president and chief executive officer of the BGSU Foundation, Inc. Prior to joining BGSU, he was vice president for advancement at Michigan Technological University where he oversaw the divisions of alumni relations, marketing and communications, and advancement. He also served as president of the university’s foundation, the Michigan Tech Fund. Shea previously served as vice president of university relations at Capital University in Columbus. He also served as director of development and major gifts for the University of Cincinnati Foundation. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Marietta College and a master’s degree from The Ohio State University.


Joy Kantner

Joy Kantner provides high-level, executive support to the vice president for University Advancement/president and CEO of BGSU Foundation, Inc. and the assistant vice president for University Advancement. She assists the vice president and the assistant vice president with a wide variety of responsibilities, including general administration of the Division of University Advancement, budget/contract preparation and talent acquisition. Serving as liaison between the vice president and University administration, faculty and staff, as well as the Foundation Board of Directors, she assists the vice president and assistant vice president with duties associated with fund-raising and donor meetings. In this position, she transmits decisions, assignments and directives and provides information to various University constituencies.


Shannon Spencer

Shannon Spencer '89, '07 is assistant vice president for development. She provides leadership to the directors of development, director of planned giving, director of corporate giving, annual giving staff, prospect researchers and gift processors. In addition, she facilitates gifts for donors interested in making a considerable investment in education. Previously, she served as director of annual giving and interim director of stewardship. Her career in higher education spans academic affairs, student affairs, alumni affairs and development.


Cal Bowers

Cal Bowers ’96 is a director of development and is the liaison to the College of Health and Human Services.  He assumed this role in the spring of 2014 after serving as the director of corporate and foundation relations since joining the staff in the fall of 2011.  Prior to BGSU, Cal served as the general manager of Falcon Sports Properties for three years overseeing the multimedia rights and corporate partnerships for BGSU athletics.  And he was a private business owner for 10+ years in the Northwest Ohio area.  Cal earned a bachelor’s degree in sport marketing and business from BGSU, and a master’s degree in sports administration with a business emphasis from Ohio University.  “Our efforts and successful partnerships with supports of BGSU will help thousands of students to take steps toward greatness in this world,” he said.

Terri Carroll

Terri Carroll ’88 is the director of philanthropic communications and stewardship. She previously served three years with BGSU’s department of Marketing and Communication. Her career in higher education also includes writing and editing for The Ohio State University, Wexner Medical Center, The Ohio State University Alumni Association and Ohio University.

Roberta Garcia

Roberta L. Garcia interacts daily with friends and donors to BGSU, and provides administrative support for the directors of development. She has more than a decade of work experience in customer service. She said the “vision, commitment and creativity of donors, alumni and friends has truly renewed and instilled in me the importance of helping others.”


Megan Gormley

Megan Gormley '09 is a director of development and liaison to alumni in Arizona, Minnesota, Illinois, and Wisconsin.  Prior to this role Megan oversaw the Falcon Club and BGSU's athletic annual giving fund.  She earned a bachelor's degree in sport management from BGSU while playing on the women's golf team and is currently pursuing her master's degree.  "It's extremely rewarding to work with our alumni and supporters and pay forward the scholarship I received from BGSU", she said.


Karly Grilliot

Karly Grilliot '08 is a director of development and liaison to alumni in Florida. Prior to this role Karly lived in Texas for several years while first serving an AmeriCorps term and later working for Habitat for Humanity. She is a native to Bowling Green and earned her bachelor's degree in Spanish from BGSU. While earning her bachelor's degree, Karly took advantage of the great study abroad programs that BGSU has to offer. She studied for a semester in England and an academic year in Spain. Karly is thrilled to be back in her home town and working for her beloved alma mater.

Stacey Hartley is director of development and liaison at BGSU Firelands. She was previously director of development for The Ohio State University Heart Center at the OSU Medical Center. Stacey is energized by the culture of local support and involvement at BGSU Firelands. “Our history is rooted in community support, as area residents first raised more than $1 million in the campaign to create BGSU Firelands. Such inspiring passion to provide affordable education in this area continues today, and I'm humbled and honored to support those efforts.”

Ann Hoyt

Anna Marie Hoyt provides administrative support for the assistant vice president for development, as well as the associate director of annual giving and the assistant director of annual giving for technology.  She has more than 25 years of service at the University and before joining the Office of Development, she worked for Information Technology Services.


Mary Ellen Kellow

Mary Ellen Kellow is the fund coordinator. She drafts agreements, establishes new funds, and serves as the liaison between the colleges, financial aid and scholarship recipients. Mary Ellen earned her bachelor's degree in applied organizational technology from the University of Toledo and is a certified paralegal. She joined the Foundation in 2011 with more than 15 years of legal, banking and compliance experience. She previously worked in Student Financial Aid at BGSU, where she worked directly with students, parents and lenders.


Shumiala Kinnear

Shumiala Kinnear is a senior director of development and liaison to alumni in the West Coast and New York City areas. Before joining BGSU in 2011, Shumiala worked in development for the University of Toledo Medical Center. Shumiala is now pursuing her doctorate in higher education. “It amazes me how devoted BSGU faculty and staff are to our students,” she said. “It is my unwavering belief in higher education and sincere admiration for its philanthropists that keeps me motivated.”


Amy Kolk

Amy Kolk provides support in fund coordination. Before joining the Foundation in 2012, she worked 18 years on campus in various departments such as dining services and custodial. As an account manager for parking services, she handled all parking accounts, processed billing and managed appeals. She previously worked in Advancement Services to maintain a database with records of the accomplishments and philanthropic giving of alumni and friends of the University.

Nick Kulik is a director of development and liaison to Student Affairs and University Libraries.  Before joining BGSU in 2014, Nick worked in the United Way network most recently as the Vice President of Resouce Development with United Way of Racine County.  "As a third generation alumnus of BGSU, I grew up a Falcon and have seen how the university aids in the growth of students to be successful," he said.  "I'm looking forward to working with alumni and friends to give future students the opportunity to discover their passions and reach their aspirations."

Michael Lohr is a senior manager of prospect research. He has more than a decade of experience in research and prospect management experience spanning three successful capital campaigns. He earned his master's degree from National-Louis University, a bachelor's degree from Wheeling Jesuit University and an associate degree from West Virginia Northern Community College.

Kenneth D. McIntyre Jr. is director of development and liaison for the College of Business Administration and works with alumni in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. He enjoys helping alumni and friends of BGSU explore their passions and ultimately discover new ways to support the University. “It is easy to see why donors continually invest in BGSU. It is apparent how passionate our faculty and staff are about developing students into knowledgeable, talented community leaders prepared for success in their fields,” he said.


Jane Myers

Jane Myers '92, '96 is assistant director of athletics for development. She earned her bachelor's degree in liberal studies and a master's degree in guidance and counseling at BGSU. She previously worked in admissions. She was president of the National Association of Athletic Development Directors (NAADD) and now serves on its executive committee. “Our University and the community are shaped by those who value the deep relationships that can be forged when people reach out to one another with their time, talent and treasure,” Jane said.

Holly Orlowski '97 provides administrative support to directors of development. She earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education from BGSU in 1997. She joined University Advancement in 2011 after 10 years of service as the hall secretary for Offenhauer Residence Hall. “After seeing how undergraduate students benefit from the generosity of friends and alumni, I enjoy seeing how a University education and phenomenal campus experience inspires donors to give.”


Brittany Powell

Brittany Powell is an Assistant Director of Development for the Office of the President. Prior to joining BGSU, she was a volunteer Assistant Coach for the Women's Basketball Team at West Chester University of Pennsylvania. Brittany graduated from West Chester in 2013 where she earned a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and was a member of the basketball team. She worked closely with the Alumni Association during sporting events and headed or parcipated in other various fundraising opportunities as an athlete and a Resident Assistant.


Michelle Roehl

Michelle Roehl provides administrative support to directors of development. She previously served two years with BGSU’s School of Teaching and Learning, assisting faculty, staff and clients of the Martha Gesling Weber Reading Center. Her career also includes more than a dozen years of small business management, marketing and customer service.


Kirk Ross

Kirk Ross '01 is director of gift planning. He is a licensed attorney and certified trust and financial advisor. He helps donors develop tax and estate planning strategies to maximize the impact of their major gifts. Kirk earned dual bachelor's degrees in European studies and mathematics from Berry College. He earned dual master's degrees in history and German from BGSU, and his juris doctorate from Northwestern University School of Law. “The work we do helps students get access to educational opportunities they might otherwise never have,” he said.


John Selzer

John Selzer is senior manager of prospect research. He earned bachelor's degrees from Purdue University, and a master's degree in library and information science from Indiana University. He previously worked as a librarian and department manager for public libraries, including the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library. “The work I do helps to create scholarships, programs, and new buildings that will directly affect current and future students.” he said.

Tina Shunk

Tina Shunk is director of development and liaison for the College of Arts & Sciences. Before joining BGSU in 2014, Tina held the position of Senior Development Officer at Nipissing University in North Bay, Ontario Canada. Spending more than a decade at Nipissing, Tina progressed in roles of greater responsibility covering alumni relations, research, stewardship, and major gifts. “Being a part of the BGSU community as it enters the next chapter of its future is extremely exciting.”


Alex Solis

Alex Solis ’14 is the Assistant Director of Development for the Office of the President. A College of Education and Human Development alumnus, Alex recently earned his bachelor’s degree in Sport Management.  Before joining the University Advancement staff, Alex served two terms as the institution’s Student Body President and also held several student positions in Intercollegiate Athletics, University Advancement, Student Affairs, and the President’s Office.

Tony Wagener, '07, is director of development for Bowling Green State University. After graduating with a B.A. in political science from BGSU and moving to Washington, D.C. in 2007, Tony served as an advisor and legislative assistant to a member of the United States House of Representatives. Following his government service, he was the major gifts officer for the Tony-Award winning Shakespeare Theatre Company. He also served as chapter leader for BGSU Alumni in the D.C. metro region. “The incredible opportunities I had in Washington would never have been possible without BGSU, and now is my chance to give back and ensure that today’s students are able to have those same opportunities,” he said. “BG is a special place, and it’s great to be home.”


Jenny Wensink

Jenny Wensink is associate director of annual giving and works with annual giving programs including Leadership Circle, Family Campaign and phonathon. She previously worked as BGSU assistant director of annual giving and assistant director of development for The Ohio State University-Extension at the Wooster Campus. She earned a bachelor's degree in agriculture from OSU and is pursuing a master’s degree in public administration at BGSU. Jenny grew up near Bowling Green and is excited to be back in Wood County. “BGSU has a great culture and will always feel like home to me,” she said. “I really enjoy working with our alumni and friends.”


Sara Zulch-Smith

Sara Zulch-Smith '00, '11 is director of development and liaison for the College of Technology. Before joining the Foundation in 2012, she worked 15 years as assistant to the dean of the College of Education and Human Development. The role involved managing the $2 million renovation of the Education Building. Before joining BGSU, she was a journalist. “I love higher education because it changes lives,” she said. “I'm always in awe of people who are willing to give of their time and themselves to support students they may never meet.”


Doreen Bateson

Doreen Bateson '09 is events manager. She organizes recognition events for donors, alumni and friends, and special events hosted by the University president. She joined the Foundation in 2010 with more than 20 years experience in the restaurant management and hospitality industry. She previously worked as a catering manager for BGSU Dining Services. “There are many ways to say 'thank you,' and I love helping the campus community express gratitude to our generous donors and friends,” she said.

Pamela J. Fall is manager for accounting services. She earned her bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Toledo. She joined the Office of Alumni and Development in 2007 with accounting experience in industries including banking, commodities, manufacturing and retail. She manages accounting functions for the Alumni Association and supervises cash disbursements for the Foundation.

Diana Foster provides administrative support to members of the alumni staff and serves as liaison to the Alumni Board of Directors. She has worked at BGSU for more than 29 years, and previously held positions in student loan collections, the University bookstore and residence life.


Kim Jacobs

Kim Jacobs is assistant director of programming and oversees all Alumni Association activities and events during BGSU’s annual Homecoming. She also coordinates the Academy of Distinguished Alumni and directs the alumni society program. Kim joined BGSU in 1999 as assistant dean in the Office of Campus Involvement, and then joined the staff of the Bowen-Thompson Student Union shortly after it opened in 2002. The common denominator throughout her career is the planning of events and activities. Her experience in higher education has included Ohio State University, University of Illinois, Mundelein College, University of Illinois – Chicago, and Indiana University – Purdue University Fort Wayne. “I’ve enjoyed planning events for BGSU students and now look forward to doing the same for our Falcon alumni.”


Rebecca Kocher

Becky Kocher is assistant vice president for alumni and annual giving. In this role, she provides leadership for alumni relations and annual giving staff. Prior to BGSU, Becky served as the director of annual giving and parent engagement at Albion College and assistant director of alumni relations at the University of Mary Washington. Becky earned her bachelor's degree from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.


Kelly Lawrie

Kelly Basden Lawrie is an assistant director for alumni and manages the Alumni Association's student scholarship program, current student initiatives and events. She earned her bachelors degree in psychology and women's studies at Eastern Michigan University in 2006 and her master's degree in counseling and student development from Kansas State University in 2008. Before joining the Foundation staff in 2013, Kelly worked in Greek and residence life at Eastern Illinois University, Ball State University and Kansas State University. “I'm able to connect with some of our most compassionate and generous donors and some of our most talented student leaders,” she said. “Who wouldn't want this job?”


Laura Lesniewski

Laura Lesniewski is assistant director for alumni affairs and liaison to BGSU Firelands. She manages outreach efforts as well as social and professional development events for the growing number of alumni at the regional campus. “Our alumni at BGSU are our greatest ambassadors,” she said. “When they go on to lead successful and productive personal and professional lives, it speaks volumes to the caliber of our institution and the education they received.” Before joining the BGSU Alumni Association in 2012, she worked as a senior sales representative and district sales trainer for Sanofi-Aventis Pharmaceuticals. She was an All-American volleyball player as she earned her bachelor's degree in business administration and political science at Baldwin Wallace University.


Ellie McManus

Ellie is a recognized leader with 20 years of expertise in building constituent relations and executing successful initiatives that increase public awareness and participation. She has a history of collaborating with key stakeholders, volunteers and staff to build strong partnerships. She is active in the northwest Ohio community and most recently was a wish granter with The Make-A-Wish Foundation. She is also an active Perrysburg Rotarian and works with Perrysburg Christians United food bank to help their mission to eradicate polio. As assistant director of alumni engagement, she will bring her hallmark of active listening skills and compassion to the Falcon alumni community to deepen connections, foster a sense of family, and enhance the entire University community.

Peg Schaller

Peg Schaller interacts daily with friends and donors to BGSU, and provides administrative support for alumni affairs. She has more than 29 years of service at BGSU and previously held positions in the Psychology and German, Russian and East Asian Languages departments. She also worked for five years as assistant director of alumni affairs and annual giving for St. Mary's College of Maryland. “I enjoy working with students, encouraging them to study hard and make the most of their education and college experience,” she said. “I also enjoy working with alumni, listening to their stories and memories of their time at BGSU, and instilling in them that BGSU is their home.”


Jessica Brunsman

Jessica Brunsman is the financial analyst with duties that include managing daily and monthly accounting, and the annual audits for the Foundation. She joined the Foundation in 2013 with 15 years experience in public accounting and healthcare finance. She earned her bachelors degree in accounting and German from Adrian College in 1998. “I've had a love of learning for as long as I can remember,” she said, “so it seems natural to support an institution like BGSU that offers such unique opportunities for education, personal and professional growth.”


Kyle Crawford

Kyle Crawford '07 is system specialist. Trained as a structured query language (SQL) analyst, he helps to maintain the database of alumni, donors and friends of BGSU. He earned his bachelor's degree in computer science from BGSU. Before he joined the staff in 2009, Kyle worked in the legal and compliance department for Sky Financial, Inc.


Carla Greenlese

Carla Greenlese is an account clerk in gift processing. She joined BGSU in 2000. She said she is proud to be part of the process in which “some people give because they want to give back to the University they went to and others because they simply believe in higher education.” Her previous work experience ranged from mutual funds to agriculture.


Roger Heminger

Roger Heminger is records management officer. He joined the Foundation office in 2012. He previously worked 12 years as a clerical supervisor in the BGSU Student Health Center, where he directly served students through billing, appointment-setting and customer service functions. He previously spent 24 years in retail management. “I love working at Bowling Green State University and interacting with students,” he said. “I learn from them every day.”

Kim Hites is an account clerk in gift processing. She joined the Foundation in 2012, after working five years as an insurance specialist in the BGSU Student Health Center. She previously worked in student health services for the University of Toledo. She is committed to helping alumni and donors make a positive difference in the lives of students. “Every gift matters, and we're here to make sure yours goes where you think it will count most,” she said.


Lindsey Hosler

Lindsey Hosler '07 is an account clerk in gift processing. She has experience in real estate and broadcast communications. She joined the Foundation staff in 2011. “We are so grateful that friends and alumni want to support BGSU, so we carefully double and triple check that gifts are designated correctly so they can be spent exactly the way the donor wants,” she said. “We make sure your money makes a difference.”


Karla Leady

Karla Leady is an account clerk. She previously worked for Sky Bank, where she specialized in debit card fraud and electronic banking services. Since joining the Foundation staff in 2009, she has researched and recorded gifts to the BGSU Foundation, Inc. “I'm always amazed at the generosity of alumni and friends of BGSU, and enjoy opportunities to say 'thank you.' I am especially pleased when older alumni share their campus stories and their years beyond BGSU.”


Dianne Mershman

Dianne Mershman '77, '83 provides administrative assistance for records management. She earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education and her master's degree in education from BGSU. She joined the staff in 2004. She now helps maintain a database with records of the accomplishments and philanthropic giving of alumni and friends of the University. She previously worked as a teacher at Ridge Elementary School in Bowling Green, and as a stay-at-home mom, children's librarian and coordinator for the American Cancer Society's Community Crusade in Wood County. “I enjoy being able to give back to my alma mater,” Dianne said.
