A global curriculum
At BGSU, we celebrate the diversity of our students in an atmosphere that encourages you to explore your cultural heritage. International students who choose BGSU will discover a welcoming community that challenges and supports students from all over the world. With more than 700 international students representing 70 countries, BGSU is committed to cultural diversity.
International Student Services
BGSU is committed to expanding intercultural communication and shared understanding. We believe that the exchange of ideas, cultural perceptions and political and social attitudes can improve the quality of life for all students. The International Student Services at BGSU coordinates and promotes international student and faculty exchanges while stimulating awareness on campus and in the community.
The Executive director and assistant director of International Student Services are the official advisors and counselors for international students. An academic advisor from each college is assigned to each student to monitor academic progress and to provide assistance in the student’s major area of study. A Counseling Center with licensed psychologists is available for individual and group counseling. The Career Planning and Placement Office provides comprehensive career development and placement services.
International Student Admissions
The BGSU Office of Admissions is also responsible for coordinating admissions for international students. Admissions materials should be sent to the Office of Admissions at the address below.
We encourage international students who are in the United States and would like to meet with a representative to consider coming in during our International Student Office Hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays. During this time someone will be available to go over the application, requirements for admission and any other questions students may have about the process.
Conditional Admission to BGSU
Bowling Green State University partners with ELS Educational Services to provide conditional admission for students who are academically qualified, but who do not meet our English language proficiency requirements at the time of application to the university. Students may apply for conditional admission based upon eventual completion of ELS Language Center’s Intensive English for Academic Purposes Level 112 as satisfying the requirements for English proficiency for all degree programs at the undergraduate level.
