Scientific Purchasing

For smaller scientific equipment, please use the available Punchouts in Falcons Purch. These include items for your day-to-day needs. Each Punchout includes the contact information of the vendor so you may reach out with any direct questions regarding your specific orders when needed.

For larger risk scientific equipment, there are specific criteria BGSU departments must follow. Some equipment items that have specific criteria include machines, instruments, 3-D printers, lasers, and more.

Some examples of the specific criteria include:

• Technical Specifications
  • Ensuring meets scientific/facility standards and needs.
• Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensuring materials purchased meet safety and environmental policies (needs EH&S review).
• Warranty and Support o Included or additional yearly maintenance charges.
  • On or off-site repair (COI requirements may apply).
• Data Security
  • Software included or additional with on-going costs (needs reviewed).
• Long-term reliability
  • Ability to purchase spare parts and ongoing support when needed
