Veterans get in free to BGSU-Miami game

BOWLING GREEN, O.—Bowling Green State University is offering free tickets to community veterans and service members for the Nov. 10 home game against Miami, in honor of Veterans Day. In addition, veterans’ family members can buy tickets at the group rate of $8.

The free and reduced-rate tickets may be picked up in the advance at the ticket office in Memorial Hall or at the door on game day.

“We’ve already given several tickets away and had a lot of phone calls about picking them up at the door,” said Tricia Drummond, ticket office assistant.

BGSU’s Student-Veteran Task Force, a committee established to help veterans attend the University, recommended that free tickets be offered to veterans as a another part of the effort to be a veteran-friendly campus.

“Doing this will help “bring some non-student veterans to the game and expose them to campus,” said Veteran Services Project Coordinator Duane Whitmire. “It’s another way to say thanks.”
