New public art work installed at Huntington Arena

The Maumee River is flowing on the wall of the new Huntington Center in downtown Toledo — a river of colorful recycled plastic toys, kitchen utensils and more. Titled “Re-surgence,” the new public artwork was created by a team from Bowling Green State University and is being installed this week. The Arts Commission of Greater Toledo selected the BGSU proposal through a competitive national process as part of its Art in Public Places program.

Led by sculpture faculty member Greg Mueller, the team includes School of Art alumni Sayaka Ganz and Steven Williams. The three have been working this summer in the basement of The Imagination Station to build the 50-foot silhouette of the river and are now installing it on the side of the arena near Jefferson Street at Huron.
