BGSU Lively Arts Calendar, Aug. 25-Sept. 1, 2010

Aug. 25 – The Faculty Artist Series opens with a recital by soprano Jennifer Goode Cooper (cq), bass-baritone Sean Cooper and pianist Kevin Bylsma at 8 p.m. in Bryan Recital Hall of the Moore Musical Arts Center at BGSU. The program will include “Drei Lieder nach Gedichten von Michelangelo” by Hugo Wolf, “Twelve Poems of Emily Dickinson” by Aaron Copland and “Let Us Garlands Bring” by Gerald Finzi. Free and open to the public.

Aug. 29 – The Faculty Artist Series continues with a recital by jazz saxophonist and composer David Bixler at 3 p.m. in the Great Gallery at the Toledo Museum of Art. Assisting on the afternoon program will be guitarist Chris Buzzelli, bassist Jeff Halsey and percussionist Roger Schupp. The program will include “East of the Sun” by Brooks Bowman, “Up Against the Wall” by John Coltrane and “Arise,” “Up High,” “Down Low” and “Cana” by Bixler. Free and open to the public.

Sept. 1 – The Faculty Artist Series continues with a horn recital by Andrew Pelletier, accompanied by pianist Robert Satterlee at 8 p.m. in Bryan Recital Hall of the Moore Musical Arts Center at BGSU. Free and open to the public.
