Showcase features championship debate performances

BOWLING GREEN, O.—Bowling Green State University’s nationally acclaimed Speech and Debate Team will show-off this year’s championship performances in a special showcase of champions. The event is at 7 p.m., March 31, in the McFall Center Gallery.

On March 21, the BGSU Forensics, Speech and Debate Team placed second out of 62 teams at the Pi Kappa Delta National Invitational Tournament, in St. Paul, Minn. This was the third consecutive year the team has qualified for this national championship, and the third time they have placed in the top two.

The group is a co-curricular, competitive team offered through the Department of Communication to any BGSU undergraduate in good academic standing. It is BGSU’s oldest competitive team, having been created in 1919. Students, with the help of an experienced coaching staff, prepare speeches, debates and interpretive performances. Organizers say this is a young team, which bodes well for future success.
