Information for Faculty

Several course modules are now available on Canvas Commons for faculty to import and incorporate into their courses. Information about the modules are available here.

The inaugural Change the Story: BGSU Opioid Teach-In Steering Committee invites you to take part in the September 25, 2018 daylong event on the topic of opioids. Without your help in promoting and participating in the Teach-In, it will be challenging to reach our students as we teach, learn and lead for change. We hope you will engage in at least one of the following ways:

  • Consider requiring students to attend a session/presentation or activity planned for the day or offer extra credit for their attendance.
  • Teach a unit based in your discipline on opioids. There will be curriculum modules available for you to utilize in your classes before the event to which you will have access.
  • Create a module grounded in your area – see Call for Participation information below.
  • Note on your syllabus that events will be held from 9 a.m.–9 p.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2018.

A successful Teach-In occurs when we are focused on one topic as we work together to promote awareness about an issue, create and evaluate programs and approaches that could affect the topic, and suggest policies and practices to improve future outcomes and circumstances. We look forward to sharing the day with you and your students.

If you have questions or want to get involved, please email mwburek@bgsu.edu. We will post more information on our bgsu.edu/changethestory, and on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, @bgsuchange, as we finalize the day’s activities.

Thank you in advance for your support, involvement and participation in the Teach-In,
BGSU Opioid Teach-In Steering Committee
