Research Interests:

My research broadly focuses on better understanding and supporting recovery following interpersonal violence and other traumatic events through the use of multiple methodologies, including quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods approaches. My work comprises three overarching domains:

(1) identifying individual- and contextual-level factors that contribute to the development and maintenance of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and co-occurring concerns (e.g., contamination concerns, substance use) after interpersonal violence and other traumatic events; 

(2) isolating the role of emotional experience and responses to emotional distress (e.g., coping, emotion regulation) in shaping recovery after trauma, with an emphasis on moral emotions such as shame, guilt, & disgust; and

(3) improving access to evidence-supported interventions to facilitate recovery and support well-being after trauma.
