Research Interests:
My research broadly focuses on the intersection of spirituality/religion and mental health among populations exposed to trauma and/or adversity. I am specifically interested in this intersection as it manifests among first responders (e.g., law enforcement, firefighters, emergency personnel) coping with posttraumatic stress and/or alcohol misuse as well as the various ways in which spirituality/religion may enhance treatment engagement among this unique population. My work also examines the manifestation and mental health effects of antisemitism as well as the ways in which spirituality/religion may buffer against and/or exacerbate the mental health effects of antisemitism. My lab takes a balanced approach to spirituality/religion and recognizes the ways in which it may contribute to and/or detract from mental health and well-being.
