Association for Women in Communications
The Association for Women in Communications is a professional organization that champions the advancement of women across all communications disciplines by recognizing excellence, promoting leadership and positioning its members at the forefront of the evolving communication era. The AWC started in 1909 as Theta Sigma Phi at the University of Washington. BGSU Chapter History
The AWC BGSU chapter was established in the Spring of 2011. The work was initiated by a group of Communication faculty--Drs. Lara Lengel, Ramune Braziunaite, Cheongmi Shim, Emily Anzicek-- with overwhelming support from the then School Director Dr. Terry Rentner. The biggest kudos go to the core group of women who were instrumental in establishing this organization: President Sarah Burston, Vice President Courtney Seel, Treasurer Kalee Vectirelis, Secretary Ashley Ward, Membership Chair Lashae Torres and Newsletter Editor Justina Bucceri.
