New, updated BGSU mobile apps available

BOWLING GREEN, O.—Bowling Green State University has a new addition to its growing list of mobile apps for iOS and Android devices.

The BGSU Athletics app provides news, schedules, photos and location maps for University athletic events. Users can read the latest headlines, watch video highlights and interviews, view rosters and keep up with individual player statistics, and add events straight to their mobile device calendar from the schedule. If you’re at the game, find your seat using indoor maps, or upload a picture to the Athletics photo gallery.

The app is available on Google Play (for Android) and the iTunes App Store (for iPhone/iPad).

“We hope that it will provide our fans with another way to follow BGSU Athletics and to make their game day experience more enjoyable,” said Jason Knavel, assistant athletics director for athletic communications.

The latest edition of BGSU Maps is also available for Apple and Android products. Maps 2.0 integrates features from the live shuttle bus tracking app released earlier this year and displays each shuttle stop. Users can click on the stop to find out when the next bus will be arriving, which gives students greater flexibility when waiting for a shuttle.

Visual communication technology senior Rachel Rine says she uses the shuttle tracking app all the time. “I really like it. It’s very convenient and I don’t have to wait in the cold as long because I know right when the bus is going to be there.”

BGSU mobile apps are created by computer science students working in the BGSU Agile Software Factory under the guidance of Dr. Joseph Chao, an associate professor of computer science, and Anthony Fontana, learning technologies consultant. The apps are a joint effort between the Chief Information Officer and Office of Marketing and Communications.
