shubham-sundriyal

Shubham Sundriyal (PhD, Data Science)

President

Shubham is a third-year PhD student in Data Science at Bowling Green State University. He holds a Master’s degree in Applied Statistics and Operations Research from the Schmidthorst College of Business at BGSU and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Delhi, India. His academic interests include biomedical applications of data and AI ethics. He has previously served in the Graduate Student Senate as a Senator for the Applied Statistics master’s program, Secretary, Vice President, and Acting President, and currently serves as GSS President. His involvement in student government has been guided by a desire to help graduate students feel more informed, supported, and connected to the University community.

Zack J. Matthews (PhD, Leadership Studies)

Vice President

Zack Matthews is a motivated leader and ambitious student here at Bowling Green State University. He is an experienced professional with a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from BGSU and is in his fourth year of the Leadership Studies PhD Program. He has also served as a Senator and as the Treasurer. Zack held positions such as Supply Chain Analyst at Principle Business Enterprises, Inc. and Raw Material Planner at GKN Automotive. He is currently a Graduate Teaching Instructor and Vice President of the Graduate Student Senate.

Morgan Poole (PhD, Sociology)

Treasurer

Morgan is a fourth year PhD student in the Sociology department specializing in criminology, family, and quantitative methods. She holds a M.A. in Sociology from BGSU (2025) and a B.A. in Sociology from Pennsylvania Western University, Clarion Campus (2023). Her research interests include substance use, parental incarceration, gender roles, and cults. This is her fourth year serving in GSS, her first two years she served as the MA senator for the Sogiology department and served as Representative-at-Large last year.

Abiola John Sobayo (PhD, Media and Communication)

Interim Secretary

Abiola John Sobayo is a PhD student in Media and Communication at Bowling Green State University, where he also holds a master’s degree in Media and Communication in 2025. He serves as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Institute for the Study of Culture & Society. His research interests include health communication, social media, and political communication. He enjoys listening to music and watching movies in his leisure time.

Md Foysal Ahmed (Ph.D., Data Science)

Academic Affairs Representative

Md Foysal Ahmed is a Ph.D. student in Data Science at Bowling Green State University. His research interests include Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI), Human–AI Collaboration, and responsible and interpretable AI systems. His current research focuses on understanding how humans and AI can work together effectively in decision-making and real-world applications. Prior to beginning his doctoral studies, Foysal gained professional experience in data science, machine learning, and data analytics. At BGSU, he serves as the Academic Affairs Representative for the Graduate Student Senate (GSS) and as a Graduate Student Ambassador. He is passionate about supporting graduate students, contributing to the BGSU community, and conducting research that bridges artificial intelligence and human-centered decision-making.

Mmaduabuchi Godsgrant Akujuobi (Ph.D., Leadership Studies)

Student Experience Representative

Mmaduabuchi Godsgrant Akujuobi is a Doctoral Candidate in the Leadership Studies Ph.D.  Program at Bowling Green State University (BGSU). His dissertation is focused on mentorship and career readiness. His recently published work explored women's electoral participation in Nigeria. Godsgrant is passionate about graduate students' success and well-being, this explains why he has previously served as a Program Representative, Student Affairs Representative, International Graduate Students Representative and is back again to serve as the Student Experience Representative in the Graduate Student Senate. He is looking forward to holding conversations with different offices at BGSU to ensure that graduate students have great memories and academic success at BGSU.

Sergei Koshkin, Representative-At-Large (since September 18th). More than 20 years of experience working as a PR-specialists in the largest Russian enterprises. A first-year PhD student in the School of Media and Communication. Research interests - corporate communications, Public Relations, political discourse.

I am a graduate student at Bowling Green State University pursuing an MBA with a concentration in Marketing. I earned my B.S. in Interior Design from BGSU and enjoy combining my creative background with my interests in business, marketing, and leadership. As the GSS Professional and Outreach Development Officer, I’m excited to help create opportunities for graduate students to connect and engage within the BGSU community. Outside of academics, I enjoy fashion, design, visual storytelling, and exploring new creative ideas.

Ariel Esposito (Ph.D., Leadership Studies)

Environmental Affairs Representative

Ariel is a second-year PhD student in the Leadership Studies program at Bowling Green State University. They have also obtained their Bachelors in Sociology and Psychology and their Masters in Sociology from Bowling Green State University. Since starting her graduate studies, they have served as the Sociology Senator, Representative-at-Large, and President. Their research interests lie in post-incarceration success and neurodivergent success in adulthood.

Marissa Bramble (Ph. D., Sociology)

Online Graduate Student Representative

My name is Marissa Bramble and I am a 2nd year PhD student with a major focus in Criminology and Social Psychology with a minor in Quantitative Methods within the Sociology Department. I have a Bachelor's in Psychology and Social Work and a Master's in Social Work. As an undergraduate student, I was a non-traditional student and a commuter. As a Master's student, I was online. Currently I am the Online Graduate Student Representative. I hope to help online students feel more connected and find community at BGSU. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my two orange cats, playing my ukulele, and going to concerts!

Luke C. Woolard, (Masters, Logistics Systems Engineering)

Graduate Student Trustee, BGSU Board of Trustees; Board of Trustees Graduate Student Representative (ex officio)

Luke is a master's student in the Logistics Systems Engineering program at the College of Engineering and Innovation. His areas of expertise include logistics systems design, mechanical design engineering, product management, and marketing strategy. He currently interns at LogistiQ in Port Clinton, Ohio, where he creates CAD drawings and material lists for complex material handling systems.

Beyond his role as Graduate Student Trustee on the BGSU Board of Trustees, Luke stays very involved on campus, as he competes as a student-athlete on the cross-country team, contributes to the university's social media and admissions teams, and serves on the executive boards of five student organizations. In his free time, he enjoys playing Euchre, exploring new coffee shops, and cheering on various university sports teams.
