About Us

Bowling Green State University (BGSU) is a public university for the public good. Our faculty and students engage in groundbreaking research and scholarship that is improving the quality of life for communities throughout the region and beyond.

BGSU has over 19,000 students and more than 900 faculty across two campuses in Northwest Ohio. As an R2 Carnegie Research Institution, BGSU is in the top third of research universities nationally. Research impacts range from watershed management to new photochemical materials, which support community access to clean drinking water and sustainable energy.

BGSU is also designated a Carnegie Community Engagement Institution in recognition of its commitment to drive the public good. The Division of Research manages an active sponsored project portfolio in excess of $65M that impacts communities through research, service, education and workforce development innovations. This work is supported by government, non-profit and private sector partners.

Faculty and students come to BGSU to be part of a university focused on the public good and quickly become part of the solution, with alumni and faculty having an outsized impact well beyond the state of Ohio. See some examples of BGSU Research Impacts here.
