BGSU to hold annual ArtsX showcase on Saturday, Dec. 3

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Focused on the art of science and the science of art, Bowling Green State University will hold ArtsX: Experiment from 5-9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, in the BGSU Fine Arts Center and the Wolfe Center for the Arts.

The free and open-to-the-public showcase celebrates the creative works of BGSU students, faculty and staff. The annual event includes fun and entertaining activities for guests of all ages, including musical, theatrical and dance performances, as well as exhibits, demonstrations and hands-on activities.

This year’s ArtsX event features multimedia and installation artist, Katie Caron. Her 11-foot by 12-foot installation, The Middle Landscape, will be showcased in the Willard Wankelman Gallery of the BGSU Fine Arts Center.

Using video projection mapping and industrial materials like waste rubber, polystyrene, thermal plastics and silicone, Caron creates “an ideal space, a kind of Utopia in which the forces of development sustain themselves in equipoise with nature.”

The 72nd annual School of Art faculty/staff exhibition and the Bachelor of Fine Arts fall thesis exhibition will also be on display in the Dorothy Uber Bryan Gallery of the BGSU Fine Arts Center. Toledo-based science center Imagination Station will also perform live demonstrations and hands-on activities.

Individuals living with disabilities, or those needing special services, assistance or appropriate modifications, are asked to contact Accessibility Services at access@bgsu.edu or 419-372-8495 for accommodations prior to the event.
