Moxie Strings to give free show in Donnell
Summer music continues at the University when the Moxie Strings present a free show at 8 p.m. June 24 in the Thomas B. and Kathleen M. Donnell Theatre at the Wolfe Center for the Arts.
The queens of feel-good, foot-stomping music travel the country performing and educating young string players in classical music with a modern twist. Diana Ladio, on fiddle, and Alison Lynn, on electric cello, mix bluegrass, Celtic, Canadian, rock, jazz and old time music into an American hybrid. The pair redefine folk music by electrifying the dance-worthy rhythms they have written or arranged. They will be joined in their BGSU performance by percussionist Fritz McGirr.
Ladio has worked with renowned violinists Jeremy Kittel, Casey Driessen and Christian Howes. Before teaching strings at the Ann Arbor Public Schools she taught at the American String Teachers' Association Summer Camp for six years. Lynn specializes in rhythmic and percussive styles and has performed with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Gaelic Storm and Kanye West.
Ladio and Lynn are the guest artists at the College of Musical Arts’ String Camp next week.
