Project Description

The National Center for Family & Marriage Research with the Center for Family & Demographic Research present state-level monthly marriage and divorce counts in the United State for the years 2017 through 2022.

Data and Documentation

Data Files

The state-level monthly marriage and divorce data are provided as downloadable CSV files. Each file includes state-level monthly counts of marriages and divorces, state postal abbreviations, and unique state identifiers (state-level FIPS codes), allowing the data to be easily appended to other datasets for analysis.

Codebook and Technical Documentation 

This codebook provides detailed documentation for the state-level monthly marriage and divorce data, including data sources, variable defintions, geogrphic coverage, file structure, and notes on data quality and limitations.
