Early Field Experiences Frequently Asked Questions
BGSU’s educator preparation program allows students to participate in multiple early field experiences in which they have the opportunity to examine the teaching profession and connect research and theory to practice.
- You are expected to attend all scheduled sessions and complete all expected hours.
- Be on time.
- You must adhere to the dress code standards of your school/placement.
- Demonstrate professionalism at all times.
- Actively participate in all classroom activities, be proactive.
You will need to complete a BCI/FBI background check AND send it to Ohio State Board of Education to apply for your Pre-Service Teacher Permit. You will need to have your permit in hand to take to your early field placements.
Yes, you need to go to the BG1 Location in the Student Union and obtain a Name Badge specifically for field experiences. This Name Badge is to be worn any time you are in the field throughout your time here at BGSU.
Students are placed within a 70 mile radius of Bowling Green for all field placements.
No, students are not permitted to set up their own placements. All field placements will be made through the Office of Educator Preparation and Partnerships or the program.
We try to have your placement to you within the first few weeks of the semester but sometimes it can take longer if we are waiting on a school district to respond.
