Family Campaign posts strong results
BOWLING GREEN, O.—Students’ financial burden may be a little lighter and their opportunities a bit greater next year, thanks to the generosity of the University community. Faculty, staff and retirees contributed $764,513 to this year’s Family Campaign — money that will help support BGSU scholarships, programs and offices.
Overall, 50.36 percent of faculty and staff participated in the 2014 campaign, which closed June 30. “This is up significantly from 45 percent last year and is the second-highest participation rate since Family Campaign began,” said Jennifer Wensink, director of annual giving.
Twenty-two departments achieved 100% participation, again topping last year’s number.
They are:
Accounting and Management of Information Services department, Capital Planning, Career Center, Center for Regional Development, Conference and Event Services, Design and Construction, Economics department, Falcon Health Services, Finance department, Military Science, Multicultural Affairs, Office of Human Resources, Office of the President, Student and Academic Services - College of Education and Human Development, Student Affairs, Student Employment Services, Student Financial Aid, Student Media, TRIO Programs, Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development/Graduate College, Women's Center, and the Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies Program.
Retirees were once again exceptionally generous in supporting the campaign, Wensink noted.
This year’s theme was “Community + Opportunity = BGSU.” The campaign has raised nearly $12 million since its inception and has made a direct impact on many students’ ability to continue their studies, and on the quality of the educational environment at BGSU.
