Falcon Cheerleaders Bring Home Gold Medal

ORLANDO, Fla. – Four BGSU cheerleaders, along with assistant coach David Clemons, earned gold medals at the 2013 International Cheer Union World Championships April 15-26. Abbey Pilgrim, Rebekah Pastor, Michelle Bowles and Megan Gill represented BGSU in a field of 70 participating countries.

The Team USA All-Girl squad, of which the four cheerleaders competed on, won gold in the international competition, edging out China and Finland. The Team USA Co-Ed squad that included Clemons also brought home gold, followed by Norway, Puerto Rico and Finland.

“It is a great accomplishment and honor for our cheerleaders and assistant coach to represent BGSU and our country on Team USA,” BGSU cheerleading coach Anne Marie King said. “Being selected is the highest honor in collegiate cheer across the nation and world. The experience of training with the best in the nation for two weeks, along with the experience of sportsmanship among 70 participating countries is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Their hard work and dedication to excel on an international level is commendable.”
