Greetings:

The campus has been buzzing with activities this February as we work our way into the spring semester. The first performances debuted in The Wolfe Center for the Arts, we are in the midst of our search for the next dean of the College of Business Administration, and I continue to travel around the country meeting our alumni. Next up on the schedule are San Francisco and Boston. There is a complete schedule; I hope you stop by if I'm in your city.

Our annual Presidents' Day event for prospective students was quite successful this year, with more than 1,200 young people visiting us. You wouldn't have recognized the campus–it was a beautiful day for the middle of February, and seeing potential students and their families tour campus was wonderful.

I've really been enjoying seeing some of the Twitter comments on #chooseBGSU from current and former students. If you have a chance, tell us why you chose to attend Bowling Green State University. Helping us in our recruitment efforts is one of the most valuable things you can do for the University–Twitter is a great way for you to tell our future students about the impact BGSU has made on your life.

I just have to tell you about one of students, Adeya Pinnix, a fourth-year psychology major. With the support from the McNair Scholars program, this young woman has already had the chance to conduct research and present a scholarly work at a national research conference. Your support of scholarships helps make this possible for Adeya and countless other students

As the winter sports season heads down the home stretch, the Falcon Athletics teams are doing some impressive things. The BGSU hockey team beat No. 3 Michigan Friday night and followed that up by playing in front of a BGSU Ice Arena record crowd of 5,031 fans Saturday evening. Also Tuesday night, the women's basketball team clinched the Mid-American Conference's outright regular-season title with a 91-48 win at Kent State. The men's basketball team also beat Kent State Saturday night 74-58 for its 15th win this season.

We are looking forward to hosting the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament First and Second Rounds in the Stroh Center. If you happen to be in the Bowling Green area, join us in the Stroh Center on March 12 for an NCAA Selection Show party to see what four teams will be coming to Bowling Green, Ohio, as we shine a national spotlight on BGSU.

As I mentioned earlier, we've had an unseasonably warm winter this year. Tell us about one of your memorable BGSU winters on my Facebook page–I'm looking forward to hearing your story!

Sincerely,

Mary Ellen Mazey, Ph.D.
President
