Greetings,

This has really been an amazing year for Bowling Green State University. We have opened two new residence halls, two dining centers, the Stroh Center and the Wolfe Center for the Arts, adding to the quality of life for students and our community.

In addition to the expansion of the University campus, the impact and success of our students and faculty have been equally notable. Some of the highlights include:

• Faculty research garnered more than $18 million in external research funding in 2011.
• Prestige, an impressive group of BGSU singers, won this year’s gold medal in the 2011 International Barbershop Collegiate Quartet Competition.
• The women's basketball team earned its second consecutive Mid-American Conference (MAC) title, and BGSU student athletes received the MAC Institutional Academic Achievement Award for the second time in three years.
• BGSU has again been named one of the top 100 public universities in the country by U.S. News & World Report, along with recognition for our first-year programs.
• BGSU’s veteran programs earned acclaim by Military Times EDGE and G.I. Jobs.
• BusinessWeek and U.S. News & World Report rankings cited BGSU for academic programs in biology, business, education, English, fine arts, industrial/organizational psychology, physical therapy, psychology, public affairs, rehabilitation counseling, sociology and speech-language pathology.
• The University hosted a regional version of the popular TED conference. TEDxBGSU featured leading thinkers, innovators, artists, philosophers and entertainers representing such diverse fields as technology, business, design and education, among others.

As remarkable as 2011 has been, may 2012 be just as successful for BGSU, as well as for you and your family. Happy New Year!
