DeWine became the first sitting governor to participate in the Democracy and Public Policy Network’s annual leadership luncheon
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine spoke to a packed crowd at Bowling Green State University on April 14, sharing insight on leadership, democracy and the importance of dialogue as the first sitting governor to participate in the Democracy and Public Policy Network’s annual leadership luncheon.
Nearly 600 people, including BGSU faculty, staff and students as well as community leaders and local high school students, attended the second annual event, which is designed to bring key political figures to campus to highlight how bipartisan dialogue can shape leadership and civility.
During the event, DeWine also spoke about his career as a two-term governor and the leadership style that has shaped his tenure as Ohio’s 70th governor.
BGSU President Rodney K. Rogers presented DeWine with the University’s President’s Award for Public Good in recognition of his dedication to public service and the impact he’s made on Ohio’s communities and its people.
Established in 2024, the Democracy and Public Policy Network conducts nonpartisan research, polls and policy briefs to educate and inform the campus community, policymakers and the broader public in Ohio and beyond.
The network also provides BGSU students with hands-on learning experiences, including faculty-guided research projects, podcast production and speaking engagements.
The inaugural leadership luncheon, held in 2025, featured former Ohio Govs. Richard Celeste and Bob Taft.
