Showcase celebrates creative works of the BGSU learning community, with activities for guests of all ages

Celebrating the artistic process, Bowling Green State University will hold its annual ArtsX showcase from 5-9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Fine Arts Center and the Wolfe Center for the Arts.

With the theme of examining art through process – (noun: a series of actions taken to achieve a particular end) and (verb: to walk or march) – the free public showcase will celebrate the creative works of BGSU learning community members, with activities for guests of all ages, including musical, theatrical and dance performances, as well as exhibits and demonstrations.

This year's guest artist is the Detroit-based Gabriel Brass Band, which honors the history of New Orleans jazz with infusions of the fun and funk of the Motor City. Led by Dameon Gabriel, the band is a six-generation family tradition that continues today through members of the Gabriel family and close friends.

During the showcase, attendees will also have the opportunity to tour the student-curated "Italy in the Artist's Imagination" exhibit in the Dorothy Uber Bryan Gallery, which features nearly 100 works of art from the BGSU permanent collection and learning community members.

The BGSU ArtsX showcase is supported in part by the Ohio Arts Council, BGSU arts programs, the BGSU College of Arts and Sciences, the BGSU College of Musical Arts and the College of Arts and Sciences Ethnic and Cultural Arts Program.
