BGSU has proudly hosted the Northwest Ohio Regional Science Olympiad since 2015. The competition features 46 events, 23 in each division: high school and junior high/middle school. These events cover a wide range of science disciplines including biology, chemistry, geology, physics, engineering, and the nature of science. Each year approximately 400 students vie for individual event awards, and the top teams move on to the Ohio State Science Olympiad.

The 2027 Northwest Ohio Regional is tentatively scheduled for Saturday March 13, 2027. We are looking forward to another exciting day of competition here at BGSU. The 2027 event slate is now posted with rules to be released September 8. Registration for the BGSU regional for eligible counties will be available September 3rd through Ohio Science Olympiad. Ohio schools outside of Northwest Ohio will be placed in one of the other six Ohio regionals.
