Dr. Eric Chavez

Biography

Dr. Eric Chavez is currently a visiting teaching assistant professor of History at Bowling Green State University, and adjunct Professor of Philosophy at El Paso Community College. Born and raised between the U.S.-Mexico borderlands of Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, and El Paso, Texas, and Las Cruces, New Mexico, his current research interests focus on how individual and group agency is historically informed, produced, and challenged via cultural expressions such as graffiti and murals across border cities throughout the 20th century. Chavez’s methodological approaches are inspired by a constellation of borderlands history, intellectual and social history, critical theory, phenomenology, and philosophy of liberation.
