We’re here to help you navigate your next steps

For nearly 70 years, Lourdes University has been a cornerstone of Sylvania and a home for students dedicated to service, community and excellence. We recognize that right now, you aren't just looking for a new campus. You are looking for a community that respects where you’ve come from and supports where you’re going. As you determine your next steps, BGSU is committed to empowering you to finish your degree with confidence.

Education is a public good, and we are stronger together.

A Seamless Transition for Lourdes Students

We are working to make the transfer process as simple and stress-free as possible.

1. Speak with a transfer admissions counselor

Our admissions counselors are standing by to answer your questions and help you maximize your transferable credits.

2. Apply now

We are expediting applications for all current Lourdes students. Learn about the transfer application process and the information you’ll need. The application fee is waived for all Lourdes University students.

3. Talk to a financial aid expert

Our team will help you explore all options to ensure your education remains affordable and accessible.

4. Come for a visit

The best way to know if BGSU is right for you is to come to campus. Our students tell us BGSU feels like home, and we hope it will for you, too.

Right programs. Right size. Right place.

Lourdes students are known for their commitment to values, community and personal connections. At BGSU, you’ll find a small-town vibe with big-school opportunities.

A familiar feel

Located just a short drive from Sylvania, BGSU is located in Bowling Green, the No. 1 safest college town for a public university in Ohio. Our students say BG offers a campus culture that feels like home from day one.

Academic excellence

From our nationally recognized School of Nursing and highly ranked School of Inclusive Teacher Education to our AACSB-accredited business programs in the Schmidthorst College of Business and dynamic College of Engineering and Innovation, we offer the programs you started at Lourdes— and have the resources you need to complete them. Check out our majors and programs.

Personalized support

Bowling Green is a "right-size" university. Here, you’ll find the research facilities and career networks of a large institution, but with the small class sizes, extensive network of support and faculty mentorship you’re used to.

Club Sports

Stay in the competition with more than 17 men’s and women’s teams and 24 co-ed teams. Club Sports offers professional coaching, D1 training facilities, tryouts, travel and more. Tell Club Sports you’re interested!

Design your path forward

At BGSU, we teach our students that when life presents an unexpected challenge with no easy answer, you don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need to plan your next steps.

As a Lourdes transfer student, you will have immediate access to academic advisors as well as Life Design and Career Design coaches. Together, these mentors use design thinking principles to help you:

  • Map your credits: Ensuring your hard work at Lourdes counts toward your BGSU degree.
  • Prototype your future: Connecting your current passions to learning opportunities and career options.
  • Build your community: Helping you find your "home" in our 300+ student organizations and spiritual groups, like the Catholic Campus Ministry.
  • And much more

Your Next Step: Secure Your Space at BGSU

If you’re transferring from Lourdes University, your housing is guaranteed — as long as you complete your admission and housing steps, including your deposits, by May 1. That deadline matters. Meet it, and your space is secured.

When you’re ready to commit to BGSU, here’s how to move forward:

Step 1: Be admitted to BGSU

  • Admission comes first. Once admitted, you can begin your housing application and submit your $200 initial housing payment in MyBGSU (available now).
  • Not admitted yet? Check your status and submit any missing materials.

Step 2: Complete the Housing and Meal Plan Application

  • Log in to MyBGSU and complete the Housing and Meal Plan Application in the Housing and Residence Life section. Learn about housing and meal plan rates and compare residence halls.
  • Accept the On-Campus Housing and Dining Agreement
  • Submit your $200 initial housing payment (fully refundable until May 1, 2026)
  • Provide health and emergency contact information
  • Complete the lifestyle questionnaire
  • Select your meal plan (new students choose a custom plan)
  • Important: Room selection times are fully randomized. The date you pay does not affect your selection time.
  • Students under 18 will need a parent or guardian to digitally sign the agreement, so make sure their information is entered exactly as they will submit it.

Step 3: Choose Your Room

  • After completing your agreement and payment, you’ll move into the room selection process.
  • Along the way, you can also explore options that shape your experience — forming a Room Selection Group, joining a learning community, selecting All Gender Housing, or connecting with Accessibility Services for accommodations.
