BGSU to hold 30th Presidents Day Open House on Feb. 16, with 1,500 prospective students set to explore campus

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – For its milestone 30th Presidents Day Open House, Bowling Green State University will welcome 1,500 prospective students and families from across Ohio and beyond to campus on Monday, Feb. 16, to explore the top-ranked experiences and opportunities that make up a Bowling Green education.

As one of the largest and most comprehensive visit days in Ohio, the BGSU Presidents Day Open House is held when classes are in session, empowering future students to immerse themselves in active classrooms and research labs, individually meet with current students and faculty and experience state-of-the-art facilities and vibrant campus life, all in one of America's best and safest college towns.

During the event, prospective students and their families will also be able to tour first-year residence halls and learn about comprehensive financial aid and scholarship opportunities at BGSU, in addition to the Falcon Tuition Guarantee, which locks in tuition, fees and housing costs for four years.

"Our immersive Presidents Day Open House is one of the best ways for future students and their families to gain a true sense of everyday life at BGSU," said Erin Heilmeier, assistant vice president and director of admissions at BGSU. "For 30 years, our Presidents Day Open House has provided prospective students with a firsthand look at the in-demand academic programs and comprehensive learning experiences and opportunities available to them starting day one at BGSU, both in and out of the classroom. We look forward to welcoming thousands of prospective students and their families for this year's event as they explore campus in a way that is meaningful to them."

Honored by The Wall Street Journal as the No. 1 university in Ohio, and among the top five in the nation, that students say they would choose again, BGSU continues to invest in high-demand degree programs that are sought after by students and employers, particularly in science, technology, engineering, mathematics – or STEM – and healthcare fields.

During the open house, prospective students interested in the growing BGSU engineering programs will be able to tour the all-new, state-of-the-art Engineering and Innovation Center, which features seven specialty labs for training on semiconductors, robotics, advanced manufacturing, augmented reality and more.

Spanning 24,000 square feet, the cutting-edge labs replicate real-world engineering workplace environments, with students using the technology and equipment early in their degree program.

As the first university in the nation to offer a customizable AI+X bachelor’s degree, BGSU will also provide future students the opportunity to learn more about its innovative program, which combines a core education in artificial intelligence with one of six disciplines – computer science, history, journalism, mathematics, physics and public relations.

Supported by renowned faculty with teaching and research experience in AI, the new program allows students to design field-specific solutions to support AI-driven tools and applications through topics like Python programming, AI ethics and society, machine learning and visualization with AI.

Additional academic programs open for exploration by students and their families during the open house will include aviation, business, construction management, education, exercise science, nursing and mental health-related studies, including psychology.

The BGSU Life Design program also continues to significantly differentiate a Bowling Green education by empowering students to shape their college experience and career goals with design thinking principles that promote on-time graduation and reduced overall debt.

Nationally recognized for its top-ranked student experience, BGSU is home to over 300 student organizations, some of which will be on full display during the open house, including Club Sports and the 475-member Falcon Marching Band, one of the nation's largest college marching bands.
