BGSU to hold community Oktoberfest event on Oct. 20

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The community is invited to join Bowling Green State University in celebration of German culture during the 25th Oktoberfest event hosted by the BGSU German Club and the BGSU Department of World Languages and Cultures from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, in the Lenhart Grand Ballroom of the Bowen Thompson Student Union.

The community event will offer an opportunity to learn and dance to German-American polkas and other popular music by Aaron Dussing and Polka Revolution. New this year, the event will also feature Siebenbürger Sachsen, a traditional German dance group. In addition to dancing, the Oktoberfest event at BGSU will include a German buffet featuring bratwurst, German potato salad and a cash bar serving soft drinks and beer.

Discounted tickets for the Oktoberfest event are available now on the BGSU German Club Facebook page or EventBrite.com. Tickets will also be available at the door on the day of the event for $20. Admission for BGSU students is free, but a $5 charge will apply for those who eat at the buffet.
