Kern-Blystone honored for business technology education

DJ Kern-Blystone, business education, has been named the winner of the 2015 Collegiate Educator Distinguished Service Award by the Ohio Association for Business Technology Educators (OBTA). She was honored earlier this month at the 88th OBTA Conference in Hamilton, Ohio.

Honorees are selected based on their degrees, experience in business education, professional memberships, honors and awards, and publications.

A BGSU faculty member since 2004, Kern-Blystone specializes in business and marketing education, career and technical education, and economic and financial literacy. She teaches courses in workforce education and development, program- and work-based management, and teaching and learning strategies for adults, among others. She has served on the boards of the Ohio Marketing Education Association and the Educational Leadership Association of Northwest Ohio, and was coordinator of the Ohio Business Marketing and IT Conclave.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a master’s degree in business education, both from BGSU, and an education specialist degree in educational leadership from the University of Toledo.

The mission of the organization is to make a positive impact in business education by providing professional development opportunities as well as opportunities for research, publications and networking. Its purpose is to promote business education in the state of Ohio and to cooperate with other agencies to improve business education throughout the nation.
