BGSU continues trend of being ‘Best for Vets’

BOWLING GREEN, O.—When it comes to offering the on-campus support and flexibility that veterans and active duty military personnel require when attending college, Bowling Green State University is once again one of the top choices in the country.

Military Advanced Education magazine awarded BGSU the designation of a “Top School” in its 2015 Guide to Colleges and Universities, measuring best practices in military and veteran education.

The guide presents results of a questionnaire of the military-supportive policies enacted at more than 600 institutions including private, public, for-profit, not-for-profit, four-year, and two-year colleges. This year, institutions were evaluated on their military culture, financial aid, flexibility, on-campus support and online support services.

BGSU ranked high in military culture, flexibility and general support.

This latest accolade comes on the heels of the U.S. News and World Report rankings listing BGSU as one of the “Best Colleges for Veterans.” The University has also been recognized as a “Best for Vets” by Military Times EDGE and was named a Military Friendly College and University by G.I. Jobs.

“BGSU continues to be recognized for our support of service-members and veterans thanks to the ongoing dedication of our students, staff and faculty,” said Barbara Henry, assistant vice president of Non-Traditional and Transfer Student Services. “Collaborations with offices across campus have led to the creation of several new support services. Most important is the positive support and encouragement that veterans receive on campus and in the local community.”
