Summer Music Institute offerings set

BOWLING GREEN, O.—Bowling Green State University’s College of Musical Arts is offering music camps in June for students in seventh to 12th grade during its annual Summer Music Institute.

Cited as one of the best summer programs for aspiring musicians by the Center for Talented Youth at Johns Hopkins University, the camps provide musicianship, enrichment classes, clinics and guest artist performances, They are intended to engage students of different age levels and experience in a compact, focused music curriculum.

With limited enrollment, participants receive personalized attention including private lessons, master classes and large and small ensemble participation.

The program features nine different camps including new Woodwind and Steel Drum camps.

The first session, from June 8-13, will offer the Woodwind Camp, directed by Nathaniel Zeisler; the Brass Camp, directed by Dr. William Mathis, and the Vocal Arts Camp, directed by Christopher Scholl.

The second session offers three camps. The Piano Camp, directed by Dr. Robert Satterlee, and the Steel Drum Camp, directed by Bryan Stanbridge, will be offered from June 15-20. The String Orchestra Camp will be held from June 15-21 under the direction of Richard Webb.

The Musical Theater Camp, directed by Todd Schreiber, will be held during the third session, from June 22-28. The third session also includes the Recording Studio Camp, directed by Mark Bunce, and the Super Sax Camp, directed by Michael Holmes, from June 22-June 27.

Bunce, Schreiber, Stanbridge, Holmes and Webb are BGSU alumni.

Five-day camps cost $450 per resident student, $350 per commuter student with meals included, and $260 per commuter student without meals. Six-day camps cost $475 per resident student, $370 per commuter student with meals, and $280 per commuter student without meals.
