How To Do Laundry

At BGSU we know this might be your first time living away from home and may be the first time you are in charge of your own laundry routine. The Office of Student Housing in partnership with our laundry service CSC ServiceWorks would like to share some tips and tricks on how you can have a successful laundry day in the halls.

Step One | Wash

  • Add Detergent (No PODs, and remember a little goes a long way)
  • Sort clothing by color and soil level - be sure to empty your pockets!
  • Place your clothing in the machine
  • Make sure you are not overloading and select your cycle.
  • Press start to begin washing

Step Two | Dry

  • Clean the lint filter - no one wants to be the cause of a late night fire alarm!
  • Load your wet clothes
  • Add a dryer sheet to reduce static and add softness
  • Close the dryer door and select your cycle.
  • Press start to begin drying

How not to overload machines

Remember the key to a successful load of laundry is not filling the machines too much, clothing needs to be able to move freely to clean properly.

Tip #1

Place clothing loosely in machine

Tip #2

1 wash load = 1 dry load

Tip #3

DO NOT wash or dry comforters or large bulky items in these machines.

Tip #4

If clothing is overloaded, clothing can be damaged.
