Project title: "Communication Infrastructures in Aging Families: A Daily Diary Study"

Project abstract: As families become increasingly geographically dispersed, older adults rely on multiple communication technologies to maintain connections with family members. This project explores how these technologies function within broader communication infrastructures, including communication channels, access conditions, family expectations, and everyday routines that sustain relationships across distance. Using a daily diary study and semi-structured interviews with community-dwelling older adults, the project will examine how family communication unfolds in daily life and how different communication patterns relate to loneliness, social connectedness, and emotional well-being. Findings will advance our understanding of how aging families maintain meaningful relationships in an increasingly digitally connected world.
